13 Ipoh Food Recommended By Local (Part 2)

1. Tuck Kee Restaurant @ Jalan Yau Tet Shin

Tuck Kee, the biggest treasure of Ipoh street foods. Ever since the business has started, the chef has been preparing one dish at a time and until today, nothing has changed.

With this traditional way of preparing the food, you might have to wait a little longer. However, I can assure you that once you have tasted their Yut Kwong Hor (moonlight noodles), the taste is worth the wait.

Yut Kwong Hor – It is basically fried hor fun (flat rice noodles) with a raw egg at the centre. As simple as it may seem, Tuck Kee fries their hor fun perfectly and mixes it well with their thick and delicious gravy. Their Yut Kwong Hor is salty and a little sweet. Together with a cracked raw egg? Perfection! A spoonful of the molten egg yolk, hor fun and soy sauce will definitely leave you yearning for more! This goodie has left me slurping away from the bowl and I have finished almost half of the plate! Haha!

I am sure that you will never want to try others’ Yut Kwong Hor after trying Tuck Kee’s. Everything is just perfection! Yumyum!

What is the most famous food in Thean Chun Restaurant? Taadaaaaa~~~~! It is none other than the caramel egg custard!

The caramel egg custard here is very special. Once it is ready, the lady boss will put it into the freezer as it is best served cold. The cold caramel egg custard with the torched caramel surface is served! Do you think a frozen egg custard is hard? You are so wrong! Even though it is frozen, the caramel egg custard is still silky smooth and it will melt in your mouth within 3 seconds! The egg custard is also served together with the homemade syrup. The fact that it is not too sweet has won many people’s hearts! The egg custard here is just so smooth and I personally think that it is almost impossible for anyone to top them!
