Breakfast is the essential meal of the day. Breakfast will affect your mood throughout the whole day that’s why you need to decide wisely of what are you going to have for breakfast. Breakfast helps you to kick-start your metabolism, help you focus on your activities and giving you energy.

But, one wrong decision can ruin your day. The worst part is, skipping breakfast will make you got terrible breath early in the morning. Since Malaysian live with three different races in one country and assimilates each order cultures. Typically, there are various foods at different times of the day.

Here are a few top breakfast choices throughout the day for you to choose;

Telur goyang is half-boiled eggs, and even the name itself ‘telur goyang’ means jiggly egg. Half boiled eggs are usually paired with white pepper and soy sauce. Some peoples prefer to eat just like that, and some people prefer to dip with toast.

They are usually served with the eggshell, where customers will crack the egg open by themselves. This mouth-watering breakfast will cost you below than RM 5 and benefits to your health.

Nasi Lemak is most Malaysian’s favourites. Rice infused with coconut cream and paired with unique spicy condiment or sambal. The Nasi Lemak is wrapped with fresh banana leaves give it the best aroma. The rice itself is aromatic, and banana leaves make it better. You will drool over the beautiful of nasi lemak’s smell.

The classic Nasi Lemak is usually served with peanuts, cucumber, hardboiled egg and anchovies. Apam Johol is originated from Negeri Sembilan that give a light and sweet taste. This traditional pastry or kueh is usually wrapped with Baccaurea Motleyana, or we called it ‘daun rambai’ that leave the leave’s fragrant to the sweet treat.

 This kueh can easily be found if you go down to Kuala Pilah for breakfast, they don’t just serve them in breakfast but also for tea time. Typically, locals will eat Apam Johol traditionally with sambal or rendang. But most of the people prefer to eat without any dip but still give a wink to your eyes.

If you are a heavy breakfast person, you should try nasi dagang. Nasi dagang is well known around Terengganu. You can easily get this tasty meal for two ringgits with satisfying taste if you go to Terengganu. It is a combination of white rice and sticky rice that have a unique fragrance. 

Nasi Dagang is always served with mackerel tuna curry and mix vegetable pickle giving unique combinations that are mouth-watering. The sweet, sour and spicy taste is something that people keep looking for early in the morning.

If you are a fan of Kelantan’s cuisine, you might know about this blue rice that has a beautiful fragrance and make you hungry early in the morning. This meal is served with a special fish sauce called budu, spicy sambal belacan, fish and coconut floss with a generous amount of grated crunchy vegetables with the addition of salted egg.

This hearty and substantial meal is something that people crave every day because of its richness in flavour that comes from spicy sambal, salted egg, tangy budu and the crunchy vegetables. All the ingredient work out well with variety kind of dish in one meal.

If you go to Peninsular Malaysia, most of them prefer rice for their breakfast. It is quite a different culture in Sabah where the locals start their day with noodles. The thin noodles are served with fish meats and use fish broth.

The fish noodles are usually served with a little bit spiciness enough to make you sweat but if you’re not a fan of spicy meals, you can choose not to eat it spicy.  The fish noodles are cooked with tofu, preserve vegetables and tomatoes.

After we go through breakfast from each state, here it is the Sarawakian breakfast of gods. This laksa serves rice vermicelli with special soups that top with shredded omelettes, prawns and shredded chicken. They use special paste that you can only get from Sarawak. This meal is the Sarawakian speciality.
