The crispy and delicious Sweet Potato Fries are made using sweet potato. For some additional flavours, you can add some spices onto the Sweet Potato Fries, such as cayenne pepper, black pepper or even garlic powder.

The Sweet Potato Fries are another variation of the more famous French Fries. The dish is easy to make for those that are craving for some snack food but does not want to consume processed foods.

What is Sweet Potato Fries?

The sweet potato fries are made using sweet potato, corn starch, extra virgin olive oil, fine sea salt, spices and ground black pepper.  The total time taken to make the delectable dish is about 40 minutes.

You may add your favourite spices to enhance the flavours of the meal. They are best served warm, right out of the oven. For a healthier and fulfilling meal, you can pair the dish with other side dishes such as vegetables or even a chicken sandwich.

Make your Own Homemade Sweet Potato Fries

The simple dish can be made by first slicing the sweet potato into fries-shaped pieces. Scatter some cornstarch on top of the sliced sweet potatoes and then add a dash of salt. Add drizzles of olive oil onto the dish and then toss and turn the fries until the surface is equally coated.

On a baking tray, arrange each piece of fries next to one another to allow them to bake evenly. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the chips are warm and look crispy. Once cooked, add some seasonings or spices of your choice.

Tips and Tricks to Make Sweet Potato Fries

  • Slice the sweet potatoes into evenly sized and fries-shaped pieces to allow each piece to bake appropriately and evenly.
  • If you would like to prepare your sweet potato fries in advance, you can start slicing the sweet potatoes at most two days in advance. To prevent any effects of browning, you can submerge the sliced sweet potatoes into a large bowl of plain water. Ensure that the sweet potatoes are thoroughly patted dry before cooking it.
  • Leftover sweet potato fries can be kept for up to 4 days in the refrigerator. Ensure that you reheat the sweet potato fries in an oven till it is warm again to be eaten.

The amount of calories found in the Sweet Potato Fries is about 260 calories, depending on the ingredients used and it contains high levels of carbohydrate from the sweet potatoes.

At a lower percentage, the serving also contains other macronutrients, such as protein, fat contents, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron and Magnesium.
