There are three main components in this dish. To understand its history, you first have to know where each element of this dish came from.
The first component of the dish, The Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wings, was created in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. It was invented when the co-owner decided to cook their leftover wings in hot sauce to serve as a late-night snack for her son and his friends. They loved it so much that Ancor Bar put it on the menu the very next day with celery and blue cheese sauce as dipping.
The Sesame Chicken Strips, on the other hand, is actually a recipe invented by TGI Friday’s themselves. The Chicken strip was already a popular fast-food snack in the US, and the restaurant chain decided to make it their own by adding their signature glaze.
The last component, the Chicken Quesadillas, was invented by Mexicans. It has been in their cuisine since the 16th century. The term Quesadillas itself translates to “little cheesy thing” in Spanish.
In 2013, TGI Friday’s decided to combine everyone’s favourite chicken dishes, including one of their own in a single menu. And it has been a staple at TGI Friday’s ever since.
