They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we couldn’t agree more. With the right fuel from the right food, your mornings can be made ten times better, and you’re more likely to feel motivated for the rest of the day. And for those living in Kota Damansara, here’s a list of some Kota Damansara breakfast spots to get you started!
1. Fifth Palate
Fifth Palate’s minimal black and white exterior plays stark contrast to the family-run eatery’s warm, homely service provided with their bountiful breakfasts. The name – Fifth Palate – references the ‘umami’ flavour you can find in most of their signature dishes.
Perfect for those with huge appetites, the Butcher’s Breakfast comes in a skillet consisting of eggs (poached, fried or scrambled) with pork bacon or ham, sausage, portobello mushrooms, crispy tater tots, cherry tomatoes and chutney, topped with rocket leaves.
And for those looking for a more oriental breakfast, Fifth Palate comes through with its ramen dishes. Packed with slow-braised pork belly, poached egg, spring onions and juicy mushrooms in a light shoyu broth, the lingering flavours of the comfort dish are perfect for cold mornings and will have you asking for more.

ZIFFY’s modern chic exterior and brightly-lit interior evoke a sense of openness for its patrons. Established in 2017, ZIFFY was inspired by the cafe culture in Melbourne, where the finest quality of food meets with warm hospitality. And true enough, ZIFFY is home to many contented regulars.
Their popular crowd-pleaser is the Ziffy Breakfast Feast. It comes with a choice of black pepper beef meatloaf or chicken frankfurter, complemented with chicken slices, sauteed spinach, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, toast and eggs (scrambled or sunny side up).

3. The Picnic Table
From the masterminds of Simply Sandwiches, The Picnic Table is a Kota Damansara breakfast spot that aims to emulate the feel-good vibe of a good ol’ picnic – something we can’t really experience due to our hot, and humid weather – in the form of a diner.
With its vibrant colours and picnic tables, the Picnic Table provides a cosy atmosphere where they serve light breakfast sandwiches and coffee daily.
Early risers can expect to find sandwiches, salads, and wraps on their mostly healthy menu. And you won’t have to worry about going hungry. Their sandwiches are packed with generous fillings like garlic butter prawns and grilled chicken with melted cheese! With the addition of crispy toasted bread, it makes for the perfect breakfast that won’t break your diet or your bank.
Opening hours: 9am – 6pm
Address: 62A-G, Jalan PJU 5/21, The Strand, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor
4. Wood & Steel
Wood & Steel is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for your stomach. Decorated with a rustic theme, the eatery-cum-gallery displays artwork, sculptures and furniture that are all for sale as patrons enjoy their meals.
Though some may be put off by their limited breakfast options, it is a good reminder that quality trumps quantity. And at Wood & Steel, their all-day breakfast fare is known to be sublime. Their Champion’s Breakfast offers a generous serving of chicken or beef sausage, scrambled eggs, sauteed vegetables and potatoes with baked beans on the side. A classic that is impossible to get wrong.
Opening hours: 9am – 12am

5. Rail Canteen
For the mornings, when your cravings are for something simple and familiar, this Johor-bred eatery has got your back. The family-run restaurant is known for serving up local Malaysian delights in a cosy air-conditioned environment, so we don’t have the face the wrath of the morning heat.
Unpretentious and genuinely local, it’s no surprise that their signature breakfast dish is the Bun Bakar with Soft Boiled Eggs. Paired with a cup of the famous Kluang Coffee, treat yourself to an authentic Kopitiam experience, minus all the fuss and shouting.
Opening hours: 8am – 10pm
Address: Unit D-GF-02, Sunway Nexis, 2, Jalan PJU 5/14, Kota Damansara, 47810
