Pudu Lunch Spots: 6 Yummy Restaurants to Visit for Lunch at Pudu

A busy district located in the traditional Pudu Market, Pudu is filled with vendors selling fruits, street food, spices, and many more. The area has numerous restaurants specialising in Malaysian-Chinese fare, faithfully serving the locals for decades. Check out these 6 yummy lunch spots at Pudu to visit and up your lunch game.

1. Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice

This humble place not only sells epic chicken rice; it is probably one of the most unique restaurants in town for its chicken rice that is cooked in clay pot cookware.

What makes this cooking method unique is the ability of the clay pot to evenly distribute heat to the food in it, making your chicken evenly cooked. Try it for yourself!

Location: 59, Jalan Yew, Pudu

2. Restoran 168 Wantan Mee & Curry Mee

If you hang out a lot in KL, you will know that this restaurant is selling one of the most famous Wantan Mee and Curry Mee in KL.

Most people will tell you to order the dry prawn wantan mee, and we agree! We would also suggest you to order their wantan soup on the side because their wantan alone is so delicious!

The only downside to coming here? You might have to line up during lunch hour but we’re telling you it will be worth it!

Location: 2-2, Jalan Brunei Utara, Pudu

3. Yung Kee Beef Noodles

Sometimes all you need is something as simple as Beef Noodles and while you’re at it, why not have one of the best Beef Noodles in town.

At Yung Kee, the broth is cooked with beef bones for hours – giving it its rich taste. You then get to have it with your noodle of choice and choose from different types of beef – we like the beef brisket and the beef balls of course, but you should definitely experiment or just have a little bit of everything!

Location: 9, Jalan Kancil, Pudu

4. Hock Seng Hin Fish Head

Okay, so maybe noodles aren’t your thing, but we bet Fish Head is?

We should also mention that this is probably one of the best places in town to get fish head dishes to enjoy with other variety of proper Chinese cooking.

Note that you might have to wait for a while before your dishes come as they are often always packed so we suggest coming in early as they close at 2:30pm. Don’t worry though, they have plenty of light eateries to munch on while you wait for your fish head.

Location: 231, Jalan Pudu, Pudu

5. Hiong Kong Restaurant

Hiong Kong started as a small restaurant, but now it’s a pretty large establishment thanks to its delicious food. The most interesting part about this place is that it doesn’t have a set menu so you might have to call in advance if you want to make any special requests.

However, it does have a few signature dishes that we suggest you to try, like their Lobster Platter, their Wuxi Ribs and their Treasure Duck. Don’t forget their desserts too!

Location: 62, Jalan Landak, Pudu

6. Yik See Ho Bak Kut Teh

Your parents would tell you that Bak Kut Teh is a very delicate and complicated dish that even if you get the recipe online, there’s no guarantee that you could get the taste right.

So if you’re craving for a good, hearty Bak Kut Teh, look no further than Yik See Ho in Pudu. Their broth is super rich so you can tell that they only use the finest ingredients.

Bak Kut Teh is not all they have to offer. We also suggest you give their Ginger Kidney Soup a go.

Location: 20, Jalan Landak, Pudu
