If you’re not a fan of the maple-syrup soaked, sweet pancakes, we’ve got a pancake recipe to fulfil your savoury hunting taste buds. Korean pancakes are typically savoury are served as side dishes in a meal, and are also popular as snacks. Dakgogi means chicken while jeon means anything that is coated in flour and egg then pan-fried in oil. Why not add kimchi to the mix, right? Therefore, here is a great recipe on Dakgogi Kimchi Jeon!
Ingredients:

- 200 g young green onions (approx 2 bunches), thinner the better
- 75 g ground chicken
- 2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon plum syrup or 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 cup of chopped kimchi,
- 3 tbs of kimchi juice
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 50g regular flour
- 150g rice flour
- 50g sweet rice flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ~ 2 egg
- vegetable oil for pan frying
- 360 ml chicken stock or water

Chokanjang (sour soy sauce)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- sprinkle of sesame seeds

Chogochujang (spicy-sweet red pepper sauce)
- 1 tablespoon Korean Gochujang (red pepper paste)
- 1 tablespoon vinegar or 1 Tbs lemon juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- sprinkle of sesame seeds
Directions:
- Make Chogochujang sauce by mixing gochujang, vinegar, sugar and sesame seeds.
- Make Chokanjang sauce by mixing soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, kimchi juice and water. Set aside.
- Cut green onions and kimchi into 2cm pieces.
- Season chicken by adding soy sauce, mirin, maesil syrup or sugar, chopped garlic and sesame oil.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg. In another bowl, make the batter by mixing flour, rice flour, sweet rice flour and chicken stock.
- Heat a cast-iron pan on med-high heat. Pour about 2 tablespoons of oil into the pan. Layer green onions and kimchi as wide as about 12 inches in the pan.
- Pour 2-3 tablespoons of batter over green onions then, dot the pancake with ground chicken and top with 1/3 of whisked egg
- Turn the pancake over to cook the other side for 2 minutes or until brown.
- Serve it with both Chogochujang or Choganjang sauces or drizzle the sweet and sour gochujang sauce on top.
