Recipe: Fresh Fruit Yoghurt

Yoghurt and fruits both have their own advantages and combining them together is like killing two birds with one stone because of the combination of benefits. The mixture of sourness from the yoghurt the sweetness from the fruits is what makes it taste so good.

Yoghurt contains almost all the nutrients that your body requires. It is also very high in protein and helps with your appetite. Furthermore, it helps to boost your immune system and help your body fight certain diseases.

Fruits, on the other hand, are high in vitamin C, which are really good for your skin, teeth and gums. Also, it improves your stamina over time which is why it is so crucial for athletes and pregnant women.

This is a favourite dessert on a sunny day to be eaten cold. It cools down your body and also prevents you from getting sick during the dry weather.

It doesn’t take much effort to make fruit yoghurt. It is one of the easiest desserts to make. Although it takes a while to prepare for it, the process itself is straightforward.

Ingredients:

  1. Heat the milk gently in a large saucepan until it starts to steam. Then, remove the pan from the heat and let the milk cool to room temperature.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk the starter or yoghurt and about a ¼ cup of lukewarm milk together until it turns smooth. Whisk it into the saucepan with the rest of the milk.
  3. Transfer the milk to a measuring cup or bowl and pour carefully into seven oz yoghurt cups. Arrange the cups, without their lids, in the base of the yoghurt maker and cover the bottom with the clear plastic lid. Plug the yoghurt maker in and set the timer for about 7 to 8 hours.
  4. When the yoghurt is set, put the lids on the cups and refrigerate them for at least 3 hours.
  5. Once the yoghurt is chilled, stir in a few spoonfuls of the fruit puree and a bit of maple syrup into each cup of yoghurt and serve them chilled.

  1. Combine the fruit and sugar in a small saucepan and add ¼ cup of water. Let it boil over medium heat, cover and lower the temperature just as it starts to boil. Cook for about 5 minutes, until the fruit begins to soften and release its juices.
  2. Then, mash the fruit and strain it through a fine-mesh sieve. Set aside to cool and then cover and refrigerate.
