Recipe: Gyu Yakiniku

The Guy Yakiniku is a delicious Japanese dish that incorporates a unique sauce to season the grilled meats. The term ‘“yakiniku” means “grilled meat” or “grilled beef”. The umbrella term can be used to illustrate the grilling or style of cooking meats, which in Japanese cuisine could mean that the meat is marinated and then cooked on an open-flame grill.

Most types of meats can be used to make the dish such as chicken drumsticks, beef slices (Kobe and short ribs), seafood (squids and scallops) and many more. Are you tempted to check out the Guy Yakiniku? Try out the recipe below within the comforts of your abode.

Ingredients (4 servings):

(Yakiniku Sauce)

Directions:

  1. The sauce is made of the combination of soy sauce, mirin, sugar, garlic and sesame oil into a saucepan. The mixture is heated above heat at a medium to high-level for about 3 minutes. Ensure to stir the mixture constantly, to prevent burning and to allow the sugar to dissolve.
  2. After that, set the sauce aside to allow it to cool in room temperature for at most 10 minutes. Pour the sauce through a strainer and into a small bowl to collect the garlic pieces. Throw away all of the garlic pieces.
  3. Then add some ground white sesame seeds and roasted white sesame seeds into the small bowl with the sauce. Stir the mixture gently.
  4. To cook the meat, start by marinating the chicken with the miso paste, sake and scallions for about 30 minutes.
  5. Bring a grill rack and then place it on top of the stove. Turn on the heat and then put it on a low-level and start adding some chicken meat on top of the grill rack.
  6. Cook the meat above the temperature until some sides of the beef are charred and then do the same for the other side.
  7. Once it has been cooked, place the meat on top of the plate and eat it by dipping into the yakiniku sauce. The meat chosen for this dish can be substituted with beef short ribs, grill Kobe beef slices, seafood, flank steak and vegetables.
