Recipe: Lok Lok

If you’ve ever found yourself fancying grilled or steamed food but have trouble making your mind up for which one to have, then Lok Lok is your answer! Lok Lok is essentially an assortment of food (with its operations based out of a food truck) such as pork balls, fish balls, mushrooms, egg tofu, seaweed tofu, wonton, and bean curds just to name a few.

Depending on the Lok Lok truck, it’s often a common sight to find that there are at least 20 different dishes for you to choose from. Talk about being spoilt for choice!

In addition to the vast selection of food, you can also choose your preferred way of cooking the food. Fancy grilling pork balls? No problem. Love steamed mushrooms? The truck operator is on it! The point is, variety is the name of the game when it comes to dining at Lok Lok trucks. Simply put, Lok Lok trucks are your all-in-one stop for grilled or steamboat food!

Similar to the nature of Chinese hotpot, it would be a tall task to list a set recipe for Lok Lok due to there being a wide selection of choices at the usual Lok Lok trucks, as well as the trucks being well equipped to cook the dish to your liking.

Directions:

In order to best recreate the Lok Lok truck experience within the confines and comfort of your own home, it is recommended to prepare an induction cooker with a clear broth in the pot, along with skewers (amount is dependent on the guests at home) in order to skewer both the meats and vegetables for cooking in the broth.

To prepare the broth, add equal amounts of water and chicken stock into an induction stove, along with 500 g of pork bones and let it simmer for about an hour. After an hour, you may remove the pork bones and continue boiling the pot as your guests cook their skewered food!

It’s also good practice to limit your skewer to 3 servings of the same item, to maintain consistency in the taste.
