Recipe: Mini Octopus Galbi

More commonly known baby Octopus, Mini Octopus Galbi is a delicious snack originated from Korea. One reason this octopus is preferred over the mature ones is because you’ll get a significantly tender serving of octopus. In this recipe for Mini Octopus Galbi – Korean Spicy Octopus Stir-Fry we’ll be teaching you how to make this wholesome and easy meal!

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. First, clean the octopuses by pulling the body/head away from the tentacles. Remove and discard the guts, and trim off the eyes and beak. Put the octopus in a bowl and sprinkle liberally with salt. Massage with your hands – the octopus will exude a foamy liquid. Rinse thoroughly in a colander and drain. Repeat the process again, and rinse well to wash away the excess salt.
  2. Next, combine all the ingredients for the marinade into a bowl and mix well. Add in the octopus and refrigerate overnight.
  3. Pour 2 tablespoons of oil into a wok over medium-high heat. Add in all the vegetables and rice cakes. Stir well. Next, add in the octopus and cover your wok.
  4. Stir in 5-minute intervals. The vegetables will release liquids, so after 10 minutes, remove the lid and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve immediately while hot on the perilla leaves or white rice if you can’t get your hands on the leaves.
