If you are going for a simple dish today or simply love vegetables, then this dish is for you! Po Li Sang Choy is an easy dish filled with sang choy (Asian basil), sometimes uncooked. Coupled with its many obvious health benefits such as being a low-fat diet, we can’t see any reason not to like this dish.

Garnish it with a variety of sauces and spices; then you have a finished dish. Po Li Sang Choy is complementary to any other full meal and most notably Bak Kut Teh. You can walk into any Bak Kut Teh restaurant and expect every table to be served with Po Li Sang Choy.

This beautiful yet simple dish is considered as traditional Chinese cuisine, spanning across generations. Simple, elegant and edible!

Ingredients(6 Servings):

Directions:

  1. Pick six healthy lettuce leaves and trim with scissors if necessary.
  2. Remove unnecessary stem from the lettuce leaves.
  3. Soak them in water to remove dirt or sand.
  4. Heat up oil in a wok. Add in green onions and ginger pieces into the wok. Stir fry for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add chicken mince into the wok and continue to stir fry for another 5 minutes.
  6. When the chicken mince is cooked, add in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, water chestnuts. Stir fry for another 3-5 minutes until fragrant.
  7. Lower the heat and add in coriander leaves.
  8. Season with salt and sugar.
  9. Ladle the whole dish evenly.
  10. Move them onto a plate. Your simple Po Li Sang Choy is done!

Notes:  Do note that you may discard the soy sauce if you prefer a purer taste of Po Li Sang Choy. Otherwise, Po Li Sang Choy is best mixed with soy sauce. If you are a vegan, you may leave out the chicken mince as well.
