Therefore, if you’re planning to make these savoury delights, here’s the recipe below! You’ll find that the process is relatively simple, and the most important thing is the marinade. It should take you no more than an hour, with ingredients widely available in local grocers or supermarkets.

Ingredients (6 servings):

    • 450g pork belly
    • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
    • 2 lemongrass stalks (minced)
    • 1 fresh red chilli pepper (minced)
    • 2 tbsp fish sauce
    • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
    • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    • 1 tbsp honey
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ tsp black pepper
    • Bamboo skewers
  • Dipping Sauce:

    • 1 cup of water
    • ¼ cup of fish sauce
    • ¼ cup of white sugar
    • 5 garlic cloves
    • 1 lime (juiced)
    • 1 fresh red chilli pepper (minced)

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the red chile pepper, lemongrass, fish sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, honey, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Add in the pork belly and coat each slice well. Cover and place it in the refrigerator to let it marinate for an hour.
  3. Dipping sauce: Meanwhile, start to make the dipping sauce by combining all the dipping sauce ingredients (except water) in a bowl. Set aside the sauce for 30 minutes before adding the water.
  4. Take the marinade out of the refrigerator and thread the pork belly slices onto the bamboo skewers.
  5. Preheat the grill on high heat. Cook the pork skewers for about 8 minutes, occasionally turning to ensure both sides are cooked through.
  6. Serve with the dipping sauce. Enjoy!
