Recipe: Yangbulgogi

You’ve probably heard of the bulgogi during the height of its rave and have most probably tried it out. Here’s a Yangbulgogi recipe for those you who’d like to bring a taste of Korea home and into your kitchen.

Before that, here’s a little Korean 101, bul is the Korean word for fire and gogi is meat. Therefore, it translates into fire meat. That doesn’t mean that the dish is spicy in any way, rather it refers to the way the meat is cooked.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix in all ingredients except the carrots. Let the meat marinate for at least two hours.
  2. In a pan over medium-high heat, individually place each strip of meat and cook until preferred doneness is achieved.
  3. Add in carrots and cook for 3 more minutes.

This dish is best served over a bowl of hot rice. When choosing the best cut of beef to cook, try to look for rib-eye or sirloin. These cuts are easier to slice and are more tender. If you don’t have access to these specific cuts of meat, head on over to the foodpanda app and have a hot plate of Yangbulgogi delivered to you.
