No matter how satiated one gets from the main course, there’s always room for dessert. Always. While most dessert spots reside on the other side of the city, Ampang does have its fair share of sweet spots. We’ve unearthed our top 5 places (some a little unorthodox) for your guilty pleasures.

1. JayC Tarolce

Taiwanese taro balls have been all the rage. At JayC, they take pride in serving homemade taro balls sans any preservatives or colouring. Their desserts generally include fresh cuts of fruits as well, making these delightful treats more of healthier dessert than our regular sugar fixes.

There are no fancy interiors with this one, but it’s still swarming with customers, and their Facebook reviews show great support. Maybe the next time instead of indulging cheat day with ice cream, taro balls could be a better alternative.

Opening hours: 11am – 9.30pm
Address: Spectrum Shopping Mall, CW-4 Cafe Walk Ground Floor, 4/2, Bandar Baru Ampang, 68000 Ampang, Selangor

 2. Wolf & Turtle Coffee

Not a dessert cafe per se, Wolf & Turtle specialises in artisan coffee from all around the world, but their dessert section doesn’t fall short either. This eatery is considered one of the top-ranked Ampang dessert places that you should not spare. Pair your lattes with their brownies, waffles and a wide selection of delectable Danish pastries.

Opening hours: 10am – 10pm
Address: L1-15, Melawati Mall, Lorong Sarawak, 53100 68000, 55200 Ampang Jaya, Selangor

 3. 28 Fireplace

A cosy favourite among the residents, the Melbourne-inspired cafe serves a generous portion of main courses, with many contented regulars coming back for more. To meet the demands, they’ve expanded their dessert menu to include sweet and savoury waffles. After all, you can’t go wrong with toppings like maple syrup, peanut butter and good ol’ fruits.

Opening hours: 8am – 9pm
Address: 28 Persiaran Ampang, Desa Pahlawan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 55000

4. B.station

This quaint Korean eatery does more than serving a comforting bowl of kimchi jigae. In Korean cuisine, diners often associate bingsu (shaved ice) as the default dessert. B.station answers this call by offering them Red Bean Bing Su. What sets it apart from other Korean dessert outlets is that B.station makes all its dishes from scratch. The shaved ice dessert uses soy powder with red bean paste, giving a sweet and refreshing ending to a healthy Korean lunch you ingest.

Opening hours: 10.30am – 10pm
Address:
C14-1 Jalan Ampang Utama, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur 68000

5. Sweet Hut Pandan Indah

With outlets across the city, you can trust that Sweet Hut knows how to operate a dessert chain. Here, their main goal is to satisfy their customer’s sweet tooth, in the most natural way. A look at its website tells you that its extensive menu finds a way to incorporate fruits into its desserts, from coconut to sago, durian and grass jelly. For when the KL weather wears you down, pop into Sweet Hut for a refreshing respite while absorbing vitamins and nutrients from its fruit-heavy delights.

Opening hours: 12pm – 12am
Address:
