Recipe: Rojak

Rojak is as much a favourite dish to us Malaysians as is our favourite verb! ‘Let’s rojak this project’ or ‘He’s chill, you can rojak your way with him’ It means to put things together without much thought but ultimately GUARANTEE amazing results. Essentially, that’s what the Malaysian culture is all about- making the best out of what we have. Lucky for you, we have prepared a recipe for a delicious rojak!

In this recipe, we’ll be teaching you the simplest but tastiest way to make a Rojak Buah or fruit rojak. We know there are many contenders in the rojak debate, and we’re not going to fuss over the best version of the rojak because the truth is, rojak in any form tastes fantastic! This bowl of fruity delight is a sure way of beating the heat we’re facing right now. It’s so simple, you might end up making it every day!

INGREDIENTS:

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a non-stick pan, pour in some oil and fry the tofu until all sides have crisped up. Remove from heat once golden brown. Slice into thin strips once the tofu is cool enough to handle.
  2. In a bowl, mix all rojak sauce ingredients.
  3. In a large bowl, combine all rojak ingredients and pour the sauce over.
  4. Top with toasted sesame seeds.

Some prefer to have their rojak cold, so if you’re looking for a way to cool down, pop your rojak in the fridge for a couple of hours and feast on your cold bowl of delight. The great thing about rojak is you can use anything you have at hand, so, use up those odds and ends in your fridge and coat with the rojak sauce. Yum!
